Critical Discourse, Community Strength, Women’s Rights The Wasaat Way

Welcome To Wasaat Women Foundation

Introduction to Wasaat

Wasaat is a dynamic women-led organization committed to fostering critical discourse, community empowerment, and advocacy for women’s rights, particularly in Bangladesh. Through digital media and grassroots initiatives, Wasaat provides a platform for women to engage in discussions on social, political, and religious issues that shape their lives. Their mission is to create an inclusive space where women can collaborate, support one another, and drive meaningful change.

What social needs is Wasaat responding to?

In Bangladesh, as in many societies, there are limited spaces for open and constructive dialogue, particularly on women’s issues that intersect with religion, culture, politics, economics, and literature. These overlapping factors contribute to interdependent systems of discrimination and disadvantage. Wasaat addresses this gap by creating an inclusive space where women from diverse backgrounds can come together, share experiences, and ensure their voices are heard and respected. By facilitating discourse on these critical issues, Wasaat empowers women with knowledge, fosters mutual understanding, and strengthens collective agency.

Equitable treatment,

dismantling systemic barriers, debunking harmful perceptions of women, fostering sisterhood, and empowering through knowledge are Wasaat’s core principles. Beyond discussion, Wasaat actively cultivates a strong support network for women, offering solidarity, guidance, and empowerment. It strives to promote sisterhood, build resilience, and encourage women to take an active role in shaping society.
Through these efforts, Wasaat envisions a future where every woman in Bangladesh has the opportunity to thrive—free from discrimination and oppression.

Women's in July Revolution

Wasaat's Documentation of Women's Participation in July Revolution 2024

Women were pivotal in Bangladesh's July 2024 Revolution, also called the Monsoon Revolution. They actively engaged in protests, led, fought, challenged the authoritarian regime, provided support, used art to inspire and mobilize the masses, and ultimately, alongside their male counterparts, toppled the fascist Hasina regime. However, post-revolution, their significant contributions have been largely overlooked, with women systematically sidelined in the rebuilding process and underrepresented in leadership positions. Documenting women's involvement in the July Revolution is crucial to ensuring their vital contributions are recognized, and their sacrifices, leadership, and participation during the movement are validated and preserved in historical narratives.

Wasaat's political activism

Women Rising is the destination for women’s leadership development. We support women with a holistic personal and professional development journey that women around the world consistently call life changing.

This was evident in journalist Shafiqul Alam’s post, which featured images of Aynaghor’s infamous torture chair. Through such online behavior, social media is weaponized to manipulate public perception, making political repression more palatable and diminishing the gravity of systemic human rights abuses.
This report investigates whether the Haha reactions on journalist Shafiqul Alam’s post were organic or part of a coordinated digital manipulation campaign to trivialize state violence and discredit victims. By categorizing reacting profiles as real, fake, or locked, the study analyzes their authenticity and behavior, revealing how social media is weaponized to shape political discourse and historical memory in Bangladesh. The findings contribute to the broader discussion on digital technology’s role in suppressing dissent and rewriting history.

Introduction

The "Haha" reaction on Facebook is often defended as a form of freedom of expression, but in the context of state-led torture, it becomes a tool for trivializing atrocities, downplaying the brutality of state violence, and mocking and dehumanizing victims. This was evident in journalist Shafiqul Alam's post, which featured images of Aynaghor's infamous torture chair. Through such online behavior, social media is weaponized to manipulate public perception, maki

Additional Verification Factors: Personal engagement through status updates reflecting real-life activities.Comprehensive 'About' information (location, hometown, full name, education history) Optional but strengthening indicators: Relationship status ("Married" or "In a relationship") Links to other social media platforms
